EXPLORER TRIP MAROCCO
23–30 OCTOBER 2027 ⁄ CHF 2290
An explorer trip into Morocco’s Atlas Mountains: we’ll explore the mountains between Marrakech and Agadir and experience a taste of the Arabian Nights in this remote mountain region!
We head into Morocco’s remote mountains by 4x4. Goat herders, ochre-coloured rocks, Berber villages and star-filled nights await us. We explore the flying sites between Agadir and Marrakech, away from the familiar routes and surrounded by landscapes that few pilots have seen from above.
The Atlas Mountains stretch some 2,500 kilometres across North Africa, separating the Atlantic coast from the Sahara. In the High Atlas, Jbel Toubkal rises to 4,167 metres, making it North Africa’s highest peak. These mountains have been home to the Berber people for thousands of years, and they have preserved their own language and way of life to this day. In the Middle Ages, Berber dynasties founded Marrakech and shaped history far beyond Morocco, reaching into Europe. Here, hospitality comes with mint tea: visitors to a village are welcomed with a glass of this sweet drink.
October is an ideal time to visit. In Agadir, the Atlantic keeps daytime temperatures at a pleasant 25°C, while Marrakech still feels summery at 27°C. In the mountains, the weather is dry, with warm days and pleasantly cool nights at altitude. Ideal conditions for unforgettable flights over a land straight out of the Arabian Nights.
We travel in 4x4s with local drivers and stay in simple, traditional guesthouses, far from the usual tourist routes. Our Morocco road trip with Christoph Buchli is THE paragliding trip for adventurous licensed pilots who want varied flying in an equally varied country.
