Programme
The plateau of Castelluccio lies 1300m above sea level in central Italian Umbria. Surrounded by bare, round grass hills we have the perfect spot for our ground handling camp.
With low winds we head for the higher areas on the surrounding hills, where we learn different strong wind launch techniques, kiting with the glider and top landing. When the wind blows stronger, we literally have a whole plateau as a playground.
As soon as the thermal sets in, the surrounding hills and the majestic Monte Vettore invite us to venture long thermal flights. On some days the thermals reach to over 3000m altitude.
The focus of this training week is the improvement of:
- reverse take-off technique
- glider handling in strong winds
- slope and top landings
We end the day with white wine or an Aperol Spritz in medieval Castelluccio. Our cosy agriturismo is located in the village. For dinner we can choose between several typical Umbrian taverns.
During the week the distances between flying area and accommodation are short and we can devote the whole day to ground handling and flying.
